Growing from just 17 staff to more than 2,000 in a short space of time can provide many challenges for an employer, not least finding the right company to transform its new premises into the perfect base from which to operate.
This is exactly what Home Entertainment Corporation (HEC), the UK’s second largest video and DVD ‘rentailer’, achieved when it linked up with Welconstruct Customer Solutions.
Welconstruct not only supplied and installed a 5300m2 mezzanine floor, almost the size of a football pitch increasing the available space in the distribution centre by 64%, it also improved the working environment by upgrading the lighting in the picking aisles and installing a complete ventilation and evaporative cooling system. The existing heating system was modified to improve efficiency with the new layout.

The building was also protected with an up-to-date fire protection system incorporating smoke detection and sprinklers and new modern offices, toilet blocks, first aid room and amenity areas were provided for employee welfare.
