Sterile Services Case Study

sterile services Nuffield NHS Trust

NHS Nuffield - Oxford

Welconstruct is currently constructing a sterile services unit at Oxford NHS Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre to provide a sterile re-stocking service to the hospital’s operating theatres. The contract will complete the fit-out of the Nuffield; a new hospital built by Morrison Construction.

Welconstruct undertook the design & build of the facility providing washer disinfectors and sterilisers as well as all the necessary M&E, including purified water, steam, gas, medical air and all new incoming utilities. Working closely with the Principal Contractor, Equipment Manufacturers and the Trust, Welconstruct took complete responsibility for this project. Due to complete in February 2007, Welconstruct will add considerable value by ensuring the full and successful commissioning of the equipment in compliance with all appropriate regulations and standards.

The construction of the plant room to house all support equipment such as boilers, hot water heat exchangers, water softeners and pump sets was excavated out of an existing undercroft which involved the inclusion of new floor slabs, drain sump tanks and rain water soakaways.
